How to embed a facebook video into a wordpress blog

So i shot a 3min .avi video with my camera some time ago and was trying to include it into my other wordpress blog. I failed because of two things:
(1) The .avi video was 250 MB and it would take ages to load it.

(2) The php.init of the hosting server only allows to upload files with a max size of 2 MB.

So I had to shrink the vid first and then figure out how to upload it…

Do you happen to have QuickTime Pro?

If so, select File> Export> Then choose Movie to Quick Time Movie. Hit “Options” and fiddle with the compression.

It all depends on the type of movie you are compressing (or I could be more specific). You need to compress more or drop the frame rate, or delete the audio, or…

If you have iMovie (doesn’t everyone?). Drag the file into the bin. Place it in the timeline. Choose > File > Share (export) then choose the compression / crop scheme you want. “Web” really crunches it down.

I was really surprised when ending up with a 4 MB video. That’s quite small compared to the 250 MB, but still to big to directly upload it. So i tried to find this php.init file in my wordpress folder only to realize that this file lies in the root tree of the server which i had no access to.

Since I dont have an account to any of the usual video/file hosting sites nor to myspace and didnt want to make the vid public to everybody in the first place, i had to figure something out. It happens to be that i do have a Facebook account, but facebook would not allow you to embed its videos. Luckily i stumbled upon this page. In a nutshell:

How to embed a facebook video into your blog
