return key to open a file in finder

Categorie: Tech — Tags: , , , , — Bise, 1:53 pm

just as a quick note:
I really like the ability to browse my hard disk with the os x finder in column view via arrow keys. But what s really annoying: you can’t open a file with the enter key. Instead, this key is allocated with the functionality to rename the specific file. So what you [...]

Bootcamp and Windows XP adventure part I (disk error)

Categorie: Tech — Tags: , , , — Bise, 8:09 pm

Recently I upgraded my MBP with a larger hard disk. While the data migration from my old hard disk went nearly seamlessly (thanks to CarbonCopyCloner) and took me about 4 h (1h tinkering, 3h copying data), the BootCamp/Windows migration kept me busy for another day and nearly failed in the end.
First I tried to make [...]

OS X on Linux PC

Categorie: Tech — Tags: , , , , — Bise, 8:07 pm

There are many people working really hard to run os x on no-mac computers: the osx86project, a company who is selling pre-installed os x in PC hardware, or a company that just announced to sell usb dongles which boots EFI.
Some people guess that the only reason that apple isn’t suing these companies for their commercial [...]

How to change Leopard Start-Up Screen

Categorie: misc — Tags: , , — Bise, 2:32 pm

One of the first things I changed after installing Leopard was the desktop picture. Not that I wanted to customize my computer, give it a personal touch, but i hated this space-timemaschine-pink-horror.

But until now there was still this well-known picture at the Login In Screen.
Here is how you also can remove this:
Go to /System/Library/CoreServices/
You will [...]

My old scanner isn’t recodnized by os x “out off the box”. So I use the great vuescan, which supports a wide range of scanners and is a solid scanning tool with a lot of parameters to adjust the scanning process and the image quality.
But if you just want to make a quick copy of [...]

OS X StartUp Sound

Categorie: Tech, Uncategorized — Tags: , , — Bise, 2:52 pm
